Ofsted Report
OFSTED AWARDS ‘OUTSTANDING’ RATING TO SACRED HEART SCHOOL
We are delighted to report that - once again – we have been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating in every single category (The Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management and Sixth-Form provision), reaffirming the excellence of our provision and the unwavering commitment, dedication and hard work of our staff to provide the highest possible quality of education for our pupils. This latest inspection recognises the progress the school has made in all aspects of school life since its previous full inspection in 2012.
Inspectors highlighted, first and foremost, that pupils are extremely positive about their learning at Sacred Heart, with the school providing a high-quality curriculum across all subjects led by experienced subject experts. Ofsted observed that every subject is carefully planned and sequenced and pupils’ knowledge across the curriculum builds up securely, developing their skills and understanding effectively.
Ofsted stated that our “behaviour expectations are very clear” and” the school has established a positive culture” whereby “pupils can learn without distraction in class” and go on to achieve fantastic exam results in preparation for the next steps in their education.
Outside of the classroom, Ofsted praised Sacred Heart for our extensive extra-curricular offer, which deepens pupils understanding through curriculum enrichment activities such as theatre visits, museums, residential trips, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, drama workshops, debating, competitive sports, coding classes, music and our well-established charity work.
Ofsted stated that safeguarding arrangements at Sacred Heart School are effective and that pupils are safe and feel safe. The report also recognised that Sacred Heart School has established a positive culture where everyone is treated with equal respect regardless of their background and encouraged to follow the school’s values of respect, resilience, kindness and honesty.
Ofsted also highlighted that the school provides tailored assistance for pupils with SEND across all subjects and ensures pupils with SEND participate in all opportunities that the school provides.
This ‘Outstanding’ result is – of course – a source of pride and satisfaction for our entire community, but it does not mean that we can sit on our laurels. I promise you that we will continue to strive for our pupils’ continued success, empowering them to reach their full potential.

Catholic School Inspection
Catholic life and mission, religious education and collective worship - all rated as "Outstanding"
We were judged to be 'Outstanding' in the 3 areas of the inspection and we believe the written report fully captures our school's ethos and culture.
During the inspection the team carried out many activities to form their judgements: The inspection team went into every year group to observe RE teaching and collective worship, took the opportunity to attend two assemblies as well as talked to groups of children from across the school, reviewed the comments from the parental and staff survey and spoke to a group of parents and staff, looked at a large sample from across the school of the children’s workbooks, reviewed the minutes from governors’ meetings and met with school governors.
Quite simply, this is a phenomenal achievement. The new inspection framework is a very high bar to meet. We will act upon the recommendations of the report. This is a cause of celebration for everyone connected with the school community. We can all be very proud indeed!
