GCSE and A level examinations have been cancelled in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Qualifications will be awarded based on Centre Assessed Grades (CAGs) submitted to the exam boards by the school. Schools will be expected to provide evidence to show how the grades were awarded. The evidence used will include internal school exams, class tests, coursework and essays produced throughout the course. This year the Government will not be using an algorithm to standardise grades across the country.
Y10 students will not be sitting their GCSE in Religious Studies, Y11 students will not be sitting their GCSEs and Y13 will not be sitting their A levels. Instead, the school will submit Centre Assessed Grades (CAGs) to the exam boards as per the explanation above.
The majority of Y12 pupils who were due to sit AS exams have now been withdrawn from those exams. Instead, Y12 will sit internal school exams in late June, from which grades and reports will be issued to parents. CAGs will not be submitted to the exam boards for Y12.
The following dates are provisional, and therefore subject to change. However, they will give parents an approximate idea of when exams and assessments are scheduled for their children for the academic year 2020-21. Detailed exam timetables for each year-group will appear on this page as soon as they are finalised.
Parents are reminded that they should not make plans to take their children out of school during term-time, and that medical appointments etc should on no account be arranged when pupils have exams. Exams cannot be rescheduled to fit around other commitments, and missing an exam is likely to have a negative effect on a pupil’s academic progress. Pupils who miss an in-school exam (for whatever reason, including illness) will not be allowed to take the exam on another day or at another time.
