At Sacred Heart Catholic School, we are immensely proud of our pupils' outstanding academic achievements. We consistently achieve results significantly above local and national averages, demonstrating our commitment to academic excellence and our belief that every child can achieve more than they think is possible.

Key Stage 5 Results (A Level and BTEC) - 2026

Sacred Heart Catholic School in Camberwell is delighted to report on a superb set of A Level and BTEC/Vocational results for our Year 13 students, with 66% of all exams taken resulting in grades A*-B and 38% being A*-A or equivalent. In addition, our Vocational Subjects (BTEC/CTEC, A Level equivalents) results are also outstanding, with the percentage of students attaining Distinction or Distinction star 81%.

Sacred Heart continues to secure top destinations for students with 50% of students attending the leading Russell Group universities. Furthermore, 76% of students secured a place at a top third university or prestigious arts college.

Among the many top further education destinations for our students include the University of Cambridge, the University of Warwick, the University of Birmingham, the University of Nottingham, University College London and Kings' College London. Two students have been successful in achieving places for Medicine and one for Dentistry - all at Russell Group universities. Students have also won places at other prestigious institutions including four students that secured degree apprenticeships with leading providers such as Microsoft and Accenture as well as a place at Escape Studios to study animation, games and VFX.

Among our most successful students is Bethanie, who is celebrating securing a place at Cambridge University. Bethanie achieved two As and an A star to win a place at Fitzwilliam College to study Environment, Law and Economics. “I originally did not consider Cambridge, it seemed out of my reach,” she said. “However, with the support of my teachers, hard work and faith I did it! I am so happy to be studying my dream course!”

Headteacher Mr Richard Lansiquot said: “I am so proud of our staff and students and their tireless efforts which have led to these fantastic results. Among our prized school values is resilience and our students have demonstrated this quality in abundance by working hard and supporting each other over the past two years of their school journey to achieve these brilliant results. I am particularly proud of the destinations our pupils have secured. As well as places at university many of our pupils have also secured degree apprenticeships."

Outstanding GCSE Results at Sacred Heart!

Sacred Heart Catholic School in Camberwell is celebrating yet another year of outstanding GCSE results. Among the brilliant headline figures, 87% of pupils achieved five GCSEs including a standard pass (Grade 4 and above) in both English and Maths and 71% achieved five GCSEs and a strong pass (Grade 5 and above) in both subjects.

Headteacher Mr Richard Lansiquot said: “We are really pleased as a whole school with these results. Most importantly, our students are in a great position to move onto the courses of their choice and progress with their careers and ambitions, fulfilling our school vision of every pupil achieving more than they thought they were capable of.”

What these measures mean:

The progress score measures how much progress students made compared with students nationally with similar prior attainment. Our BTEC students achieved an 'above average' banding with a score of +0.58, demonstrating exceptional progress. Our A Level students' progress was in line with national expectations.

Average grade shows the typical grade achieved by students in their qualifications. Our BTEC students achieved an average of Distinction*, significantly above the national average of Merit+.

Retention shows the percentage of students who completed their courses. 94.5% of our A Level students and 100% of our BTEC students completed their studies, demonstrating our strong pastoral support and commitment to student success.

What these measures mean:

Progress 8 measures how much progress pupils at our school made between the end of Key Stage 2 (primary school) and the end of Key Stage 4 (GCSEs), compared to pupils across England who got similar results at the end of Key Stage 2. A score above 0 means pupils made more progress than average; a score below 0 means they made less progress than average. Our score of +1.25 places us firmly as one of the very top-performing schools in the country.

Attainment 8 measures pupils' average achievement across 8 qualifications: English, maths, three EBacc subjects (sciences, computer science, geography, history and languages), and three other subjects. The national average is 46.2; Sacred Heart achieved 58.0.

English Baccalaureate (EBacc) measures the percentage of pupils who achieved a grade 5 or above in English, maths, sciences, a language, and either history or geography. 69.8% of our pupils achieved this rigorous benchmark, compared to 46% nationally.

55.8% of our pupils were entered for the EBacc, demonstrating our commitment to a broad and ambitious curriculum that prepares pupils for the most competitive universities and careers.

98% of our pupils progressed to education or employment after completing their GCSEs, reflecting our excellent careers guidance and the strong foundation we provide for future success.
