Ethos and Values
"Our school strives to be a Catholic community in which Christian principles of care and respect are valued, with emphasis on the development of the individual through academic achievement and personal development".
School Mission Statement
As a school dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we work to bring one another to an awareness of the fullness and meaning of life, rooted in the love of Jesus.
To achieve our vision we will:
- Recognise and treasure the unique gifts of each pupil and do all that we can to allow these to develop and flourish.
- Provide the highest possible quality of education where each child is challenged to pursue the highest standards in spiritual, moral, cultural, intellectual, and physical development in an environment of academic endeavour and personal discipline.
- Create a welcoming community of faith, which witnesses to the teachings of the gospel and fosters strong bonds of love within the community we serve.
- Form our pupils in the attitudes of the heart of Jesus expressed in respect, compassion, forgiveness and generosity.

Respect is an attitude of caring about people and treating each person with dignity. It is valuing both others and ourselves.
Respect is connected to the “Golden Rule” – the principle of treating others as you want to be treated.
"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:9) |

Resilience is when you accept that there will be difficulties in life. You see these as a challenge and are not discouraged. You search for your inner strengths and faith to get you through personal challenges.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9) |

You are truthful with yourself and with others. You tell the truth without exaggerating what you say or without sometimes saying less than you know to be true even when admitting the truth may be hard to do. You are reliable because you keep the promises you make. You have integrity, your words match your actions and you do not try to be like someone you are not: you are your true self.
“Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbour, for we are all members of one body.” (Ephesians 4:25) |
