A Level Success at Sacred Heart! Two pupils off to Oxbridge!

Following two years of teacher assessed grades during the pandemic and grades last year that replicated these inflated grades, there has been much discussion in the press around the fact that this year A Level boundaries and grades are returning to the stricter standards last seen in 2019.

With this in mind, Sacred Heart Catholic School in Camberwell are delighted to report on an excellent set of A Level results. These results mean that Sacred Heart pupils have accessed the best universities on offer. An incredible 72% of our students have obtained places at one of the top third universities. Even more impressive, 41% of the cohort will be attending leading Russell Group universities.

Among the school's many success stories two pupils have won places at Oxbridge; Mirana achieved 2 A*s and 1 A and will be reading English Literature and Language at Oxford, while Jane achieved 1 A* and 2 As to secure a place at Cambridge to read Human Social and Political Science. “All the hard work has paid off – thanks Sacred Heart!” said Mirana, while Jane added: “I’m so grateful to God! And thank you to all the teachers who supported me during this journey.”

Isabel in Year 13 secured a place at King's College London to study Medicine. She said: “Being at Sacred Heart for seven years has been the most amazing experience ever, thank you to all my teachers who believed in me!”

Other Russell Group destinations for our students include Nottingham, UCL, Warwick, Birmingham and King’s College London. Other students have also won places at prestigious institutions including the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Pupils have also accessed competitive degree level apprenticeships with leading companies including Goldman Sachs, PWC and HSBC.

We can report that the overall figure for the number of A*-B results this year in our Sixth Form was 56%, while our A*-C results were 88%.

In addition, our B-Tech (‘A’ Level equivalent) results are also outstanding, with the percentage of results attaining distinction or distinction star (equivalent to A-A*) being 67%.

Headteacher Mr Richard Lansiquot said: “We are delighted with these outstanding destinations. The determination and hard work of our pupils, supported by our brilliant staff and ever supportive parents, is a source of pride for our entire school community. Sacred Heart prides itself on combining academic excellence with outstanding pastoral support and personal development and we are so proud with these results but also with the personal qualities of our young students who are now heading off to top universities and degree apprenticeships.”
