School Aims

The main aim of the Sacred Heart School is to educate the pupils in accordance with the principles of the Catholic Faith. The spirit of Christ's teaching should be seen in all areas of school life- from teaching in class, to the relations between teachers and pupils, and the relations between pupils themselves.

Religious Educational is taught in all years of the school. GCSE Religious Education is taken by all pupils. Prayers are said in the staffroom each morning, and also in the classrooms.

There are regular Masses in the Sacred Heart Church next door. Priests from Sacred Heart Parish come into our school regularly to lead services, prayers and to talk to pupils. There are voluntary religious activities for those really committed to their faith.

Finally Sacred Heart pupils collect a great deal for charity- they give Christmas Hampers and Easter Eggs to the Senior Citizens in the community, they have Christmas Parties, presents and plays for the Senior Citizens and they collect significant amounts for the Catholic Children's Society, CAFOD and for an orphanage in Thailand.

Read more about our charity work here. We believe that if pupils have a religious and moral background, they will perform better in all areas.
