NEWS  NEWS  NEWS

The Sacred Heart School have achieved yet another phenomenal set of GCSE results.
82% of our pupils achieved 5 GCSEs A* - C including English and Maths - the government 'gold standard'.

In addition, 93% of pupils achieved 5 GCSEs A* - C overall - a truly remarkable result considering the high number of A* and A grades across all subject areas.

Headteacher, Serge Cefai, says, "The students, supported by the outstanding teaching, have worked incredibly hard to achieve these results.  Every year 11 student has had the opportunity to fulfil their potential.  I look forward to hearing lots more good news about courses they will move on to.  Sacred Heart students have a track record of academic success.  Equally importantly however, they leave Sacred Heart with a traditional sense of skills, values and community that enables them to go on to build successful futures".

Due to the outstanding teaching of mathematics and the exceptional achievement of pupils in this subject which was recognised by OFSTED in 2007, Sacred Heart was awarded its second specialism in "mathematics and computing" in 2008.

Achievement at both key stages continues to be fantastic.

This year the Mathematics department attained a 92% pass rate at C & above and a 41% rate an A or A* represent our best ever results. We are proud of all our results at the Sacred Heart but our Maths scores deserve special mention as one of the best in the whole country.

  • On the 18th October 2007 a group of 24 Sacred Heart pupils with four staff left on our 2nd trip to Thailand. They spent two weeks working with orphans, the blind children, deaf children, children rescued for the streets of Pattaya and the crippled. The whole school community raised over £20,000 in order for this trip to take place. The majority of the money will be spent on the needy whilst they are in Thailand. Our 3rd trip will take place in October 2009.

  • Our pupils do an enormous amount of charity work and are encourage to help thier community whenever they can. In particular, the elderly are welcomed into our school every year for a Tea Dance hosted by the pupils.
