Outstanding Progress:
Whole-school strategies
The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust has been working with schools whose students make the most progress to unpack the components of success. Head teachers, senior leaders and heads of department from High Performing Specialist Schools (HPSS) and others have pinpointed what it is that makes their students progress at far higher rates than the national average. 'Outstanding progress - whole school strategies' draws together and shares their expertise.
The Focus
The case studies in the following pages have been written with colleagues from schools where exceptionally high numbers of students consistently make three or more levels in progress in English and maths from key stage 2 (KS2) to key stage 4 (KS4). Each case study reflects what it is that the school believes has enabled their students to make exceptional progress; these capture valuable lessons that can be adapted and applied in almost any context. The unique nature and character of each school is represented as colleagues describe some of the challenges, the actions taken and the outcomes, together with insights encapsulating and prerequisites for success.
