Art & Design KS4

What does it involve?

This is a practical course. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects such as Architecture, Animation, Natural forms, Sculpture and Cultures. There are many trips to galleries and museums and the places of interest. There may be an opportunity to visit Paris in year 10. Pupils often work with professional designers on projects.

What new skills will I learn?

How is the Double art GCSE awarded? You have 2 years to produce an art and design portfolio which will lead to an exhibition of your work. This accounts for 60% of the mark.

You will be given an art and design brief and can choose between graphics, textiles sculpture and art and this accounts for 40% of your mark.

How can art help me in the future ?

Careers such as architect, animator, cartoonist, illustrator, graphic designer, hair and beauty, special effects film and television, stage and set designer, costume designer, curator, magazine work, buyer and any profession which involve independent research, creative and innovative thinking and ability to work on own initiative.
