Lower School Choir: B16
This is open to pupils in Years 7 and 8 and is held on a Monday lunchtime. Pupils learn to sing Popular, Soul and Gospel songs in unison and simple harmonies. Performances include: concerts, Masses and out of school events.
Upper School Choir: B16
This is open to Years 9-13 and is held after school on a Wednesday. Pupils perform a range of music to a higher level, record albums and lead the school in terms of singing and performing. Recent performances include: Goldsmiths University, The Sacred Heart Music Festival and presently pupils are working towards their second CD.
The orchestra is open to any pupil in the school who is proficient on an instrument. It is run on a Thursday after school and pupils learn Classical pieces such as The William Tell Overture and Tango and Cha Cha and more popular music such as Emilie Sandi’s Next to Me. Pupils perform at school assemblies, concerts and take part in workshops. This is a great opportunity for pupils to meet other musicians from different year groups and work together as a musical ensemble.
African Drumming and Samba: B16
This is run on a Friday lunchtime in the Music department. Any pupil is welcome to join and is a great activity that does not require any previous knowledge. Pupils drum in larger groups and perform at concerts in and out of school.
Brass Band: B16
All pupils who partake in Brass instrumental lessons are welcome to join our very successfully brass band which is run on a Tuesday lunchtime. The brass band perform regularly at concerts in and out of school, performing pieces such as Breakdance Brass, Rocky, Mission Impossible and James Bond.
Drama Society: DRAMA STUDIO
Drama Society is run after school on a Thursday in the Drama Studio and is open to all year groups. Pupils explore different plays, techniques and texts, take part in workshops, do small performances in masses and assemblies and learn by visiting different theatres and watching productions.
School Musical: B16 AND MAIN SCHOOL HALL
This is a major club which is run from September until February. The school production is open to any pupil in Years 7-10. Every year a production is put on for three nights in the school hall with professional lighting, sound, costumes and music. Rehearsals are held every Monday and Wednesday after school and occasional Saturdays. Recent productions have been very successful such as: Oliver, Aladdin, A Night at the Musicals, Hairspray, The Wiz, Little Shop of Horrors to name but a few.
Rock Band: B21
Pupils learn how to work together as a group of musicians in order to improve their listening skills through performing pieces such as popular songs like Uptown Funk, Billie Jean, Get Lucky and Hysteria. Pupils who learn guitar, bass, piano, kit and vocals are welcome to join on a Wednesday after school.
String Ensemble: B20
All pupils who partake in String instrumental lessons are welcome to join the newly formed String Ensemble which is run on a Wednesday lunchtime. Although only a fledgling group they have already performed some simple but effective pieces at the Christmas concert.
