Mentoring at Norton Rose Fulbright

This year a select group of Y10 pupils have made a series of trips to the global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright. The pupils have each been assigned a foreign language mentor at the law firm with whom they practise their speaking skills in French or Spanish. All of the mentors use modern languages in their day to day work as a lawyer.

Pupils spend their time speaking about all sorts of things with their mentors, from football to film reviews to hobbies and interests. The pupils are often amazed to find a whole hour goes by in which they barely speak a word of English!

The aim of the sessions is to develop pupils' ability to present, debate and persuade in a foreign language. At the end of the programme one outstanding pupil will be awarded a week of work experience. This is a hugely prestigious prize and competition is tight!
