Credit Suisse, was founded in 1856, today it has operations in over 50 countries and 45,800 employees from over 150 different nations. On the Friday 2nd October, 25 girls from Year 12 were selected to attend a Modern Muse Panel Event ‘Working in the Financial Services Industry’ at the Canary Wharf offices of Credit Suisse. For a number of the students this was their first visit to Canary Wharf and they were mesmerised by the corporate skyscrapers and formality of this part of London.
The aim of the event was to raise aspirations of young women to work within the City of London. The students learned about what it’s like to work in a global investment bank with offices all over the world, and found out more about the wide range of different jobs available. They were inspired by a panel of Credit Suisse employees talking about their backgrounds, their career paths and their role models. The students learned about the undergraduate program ‘Steps to Success’ whereby the students would receive paid internships throughout their degree and grants to help with higher education. Agatha-Christie a former student, was selected for this program in 2014 and is in her second year of the program whilst studying PPE at Oxford University.
