BOXER VISIT PROVES A KNOCKOUT

On Monday 19 September, professional boxer and former Sacred Heart pupil Richard Riakporhe visited the school. Richard left the school in 2006 and has since gained a degree in Marketing and Advertising while also pursuing his boxing career. As an amateur he had 36 boxing contests, winning 31 and securing a string of knockouts. He turned professional this summer and won his debut bout in August.

Richard spoke in year 11 assembly about his experiences growing up in south London and how the discipline of learning how to box helped put him on the right path in life. His words were very relevant to the Year 11s and very inspiring. He then met a selection of pupils from Years 8-10 who are part of a boxing programme this term for a special talk and workshop.

We thank Richard for visiting Sacred Heart school and wish him all the best in his career, starting with his second professional boxing match on 1 October at York Hall, Bethnal Green. A group of teachers and pupils will be attending this event.
